Vw bus undercoat and painting

To get the VW bus primed and sanded and ready for the spray booth took about a year and half. This is solely due to the fact that the man in charge was not running his business well and got into a financial mess. But over the time it finally did get into the paint shop booth.

Painting the VW bus

Colour selection was the biggest headache for me. I got the colour chart and asked the wife to make a decision and the test spray as follows..

Finally decided on a tone of Candy blue and old English white..

glasurit is stuff!!!

Engine rebuild 1.6 aircooled

Finally got the car back from paint and figured that i should address the leaky engine. The engine compression test was done wet and dry and was not as per requirements..worst of all the piston rings were worn especially the oil rings and the oil and compression was leaking FROM THE HEADS!
That justified a rebuild...

Engine out and and taken apart

Liners and pistons marked and kept aside to be washed

bearings were in OK condition but would still be replaced since it would be best to replace bearings.

Yanked the gearbox out for cleaning and to change out all the seals.

Drive shaft boot replaced
